planet friendly
by Jeremiah Ro

Austin, Texas holds the distinction of being the greenest city in the entire world – a city taking a multi-pronged approach to reducing energy use in all sectors of trade and governance, making green, environmentally-friendly companies feel right at home in the thriving, vibrant capital of the great state of Texas.

Austin’s Energy Resources

The city is the hub of a global energy industry that includes traditional energy sources such as oil and natural gas, and far-horizon energy resource technology that includes:

solar power generation
highly efficient wind turbines
fuel cell technology that cuts down on cradle-to-grave energy consumption
deep earth core energy generation (geo-thermal)
bio-fuel technology
a full list of sustainable energy producing and energy conserving technologies

The city has brought together numerous sectors of the community to work in tandem to lower the entire region’s energy consumption and shrink the carbon footprint of a major, metropolitan area. City leaders have reached out to: elements of the private and public sectors, energy generation services, major consumers of energy, non-profit and educational organizations, including tax-funded schools that teach green energy practices from recycling to responsible personal use of energy.

This coalition has created the greenest city in the world, ranking number one in both the National Renewable Energy Lab’s green power rankings and SustainLane Government’s Cleantech Incubation rankings. Austin, Texas leads the way in current usage and cutting edge technology developed by an expanding base of businesses that have accepted the challenge of creating a cleaner, safer environment using best practices to deliver quality of life benefits now and tomorrow. It’s all happening in this growing center of energy conservation research and manufacture.

“We are committed to purchasing and generating renewable energy. We feel it’s vital to our economy and our environment to develop and implement clean energy. We look forward to the opportunity to purchase plug-in hybrids for our transportation needs.”-Will Wynn, Mayor of Austin”

Austin’s Clean Energy Incubator (CEI)

The city’s leaders have created an environment that encourages new initiatives in all areas of energy generation and conservation with the introduction of Austin’s unique Clean Energy Incubator.

CEI encourages and supports young companies to develop and deploy clean energy and renewable energy resources. The goal? To facilitate innovation among the knowledge-based industries that form Austin’s revenue base. Off The Grid News Releases Most Recent Radio Show: Near Miss on Massive EMP Episode 168

Thomson, IL (PRWEB) August 02, 2013

Off The Grid News releases the newest edition of Off The Grid News radio. This week, survival expert and host Brian Brawdy is joined by Off The Grid News very own investigative reporter, Tara Dodrill. Since Dodrill joined the Off The Grid News team back in December 2012, she has reported on some of the most breaking news regarding solar flares and EMPs. In this weeks radio show special report, Dodrill tells all about the dangers of a solar flare.

This radio show comes at the heels of a story released by NASA describing a solar flare that just barely missed having a gigantic impact on earth. NASA reported that on July 22, 2013, at 2:24 a.m. EDT, the sun erupted with a coronal mass ejection or CME that hurled billions of tons of solar particles into space that can affect electronic systems in satellites. An event that Dodrill suggests would send satellites crashing from orbit into earths atmosphere.

Brawdy digs deep to get the inside track on what kind of fall out would really happen in the event of a major solar flare and who all would be affected. Dodrill brings up the fact that one of the most frightening thoughts is what would happen to airplanes and air traffic control. Communications systems would be unavailable as well as all electrical systems on board the aircraft. She went on to say that at any given point in time, there are 4,000 or more aircrafts in flight including helicopters, private, and commercial aircrafts.

This really start to get heated up when Brawdy asks Dodrill why the government and the mainstream media are not making it a priority to educate and prepare for such a catastrophic event. Dodrill brings up the Shield Act that has been lingering around and being debated among government officials for quite some time. She goes on to say how she feels as though many European countries are much further advanced in their preparations for a cataclysmic event like a solar flare or electro-magnetic pulse (EMP).

To listen to the entire 30 minute radio show and learn of the dangerous impact a solar flare would have on the United States and to learn of the things that the government and the mainstream media could be doing to educate and prepare for an event like this, go to http://www.offthegridnews.com/2013/08/02/the-impact-of-solar-flares-otgn-writer-tara-dodrill-speaks-out-episode-168/#.
